ABU DHABI 31 May 2018: Abu Dhabi has declared that it is exempting establishments whose licences have expired for more than 24 months and who have applied for renewal, liquidation or cancellation of trade licence — from paying all delayed and accumulated fees.

The announcement was made by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) on the occasion of the Year of Zayed 2018.

Khalifa bin Salem Al Mansouri, Acting Under-Secretary of DED, emphasised the keenness of Abu Dhabi government to reinforce a competitive business environment in the emirate by issuing decisions, which encourage and motivate the business sector to be a key partner in achieving economic development in the emirate and across the country in general, said Wam.

Besides, Al Mansouri explained that the DED decision regarding the exemption from fees for the expired trade licences reflects the emirate’s collaboration and keenness to create an attractive investment environment. This can be achieved by providing facilities, procedures and regulations necessary for the success of projects and investments for the business sector in the emirate.

Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Business Centre, an affiliate of the DED, mentioned that the decision of exemption includes all economic establishments of different types, sizes and activities across the three main regions of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, with the purpose of supporting the business sector in Abu Dhabi, in particular, the small and micro enterprises, which represent the majority of the expired licences.

Moreover, Al Mansouri emphasised that the Abu Dhabi Business Centre is in the process of issuing a set of supportive decisions for corporations and institutions registered in the emirate of Abu Dhabi intended to facilitate investment procedures for investors and the business sector in general.
