
DUBAI 22 January 2018: A 100,000 specially made energy-efficient bulbs – Dubai Lamps – for the emirate, will be provided by Dubai Municipality (DM), for installation in Dubai homes.
The municipality aims to replace 10 million bulbs in Dubai by 2020.
DM on Sunday signed two partnership agreements with Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MRHE), and Azizi Developments in the presence of Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of DM, said Wam. Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Assistant Director-General for Environment, Health and Safety Sector, signed the agreement on behalf of the municipality, while Sami Abdullah Gargash, Executive Director represented MRHE, and Fouad Azizi, Deputy General Manager, on behalf of Azizi.
As per the agreement, the municipality will give MRHE 100,000 Dubai Lamps to support its building projects for citizens. The agreement also aims to build a cooperation relationship between the two parties in the field of energy conservation through the installation of Dubai lamp, which saves about 90% of electricity consumption compared to traditional lamps and has a life span between 15,000 to 25,000 hours.
The agreement stipulates that the municipality shall provide MRHE with lamps for installation according to the projects’ expected completion during the period of the agreement. The cost of installation shall be borne by MRHE. Cooperation shall also be carried out to conduct studies to evaluate the savings achieved through the installation of Dubai Lamp in its facilities during the four years agreement.
As per the agreement signed with Azizi Development, the company will use Dubai Lamp in a number of its existing and new projects which will reflect positively on energy saving for longer periods and significantly lower costs in energy conservation.
