DUBAI 10 September 2018: Over 33,000 people in Dubai alone are understood to have taken advantage of the on-going UAE amnesty to regularise their immigration status or leave the country without any penalty or ban.
“GDRFA DUBAI [has] completed 33,000 transactions since the introduction of the amnesty program for visa violators and illegal residents in the UAE from 1 August,” said a tweet from the Dubai Government Media Office (DGMO).
GDRFA is the immigration department in Dubai.
DGMO said of these 33,000 in Dubai, more than 25,000 have found local sponsors and have gone on to the new visas. These workers do not have to leave the country.
