4th round of President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup kicks off today

ABU DHABI 3 February 2018: The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) announced that the fourth round of the President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup for Clubs will kick off on Saturday morning, as part of the UAEJJF 2017-2018 season. The event will be held for one day at Baynounah Educational Complex in Al Dhafra.

Participation at the event aims to encourage competition amongst clubs. It gives all Jiu-Jitsu players who are registered with local clubs the opportunity to participate, as the event seeks to discover up and coming Emirati talent and direct them towards qualifying for the national team. On the other hand young athletes are keen to participate themselves in order to attract potential sponsorship, which hones their skills for international sports events.

The championship continues to attract a growing number of participants. The fourth round has witnessed a significant rise in registration rates, which reflects the determination of the various players and clubs to compete for a share of first place following the first, second, and third rounds of the championship. Currently, Al Ain Club leads with a total of 2,107 points, Al Wahda comes second with 1,390 points, and Al-Jazira is third with 1,363 points.

Al Dhafra Sports Club at Baynounah Educational Complex in Madinat Zayed will host the fourth round with some of the most important local Jiu-Jitsu clubs in the UAE set to participate.

Commenting on the event, Saleh Jathlan Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhafra Club. said: “Madinat Zayed has finished preparations for hosting this championship. The Al Dhafra Club is looking forward to hosting the event which will add to its achievements. The Club also seeks to promote Jiu-Jitsu by attracting more players and spectators in Al Dhafra, which has witnessed a big turnout as shown by the growing numbers each year.

Al Mazrouei expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the UAEJJF, Abdulmunem Al Hashemi, for giving Al Dhafra Club the opportunity to host this important round of the championship, asserting that this will help support Jiu-Jitsu in Al Dhafra in terms of popularity.

Mohammed Bin Dalmouj Al Dhahiri, Al Dhafra Club Chairman and Championship Director also thanked, the organizing subcommittees and the educational administration of the Education Department in Al Dhafra for their support for hosting this round at Baynounah Educational Complex, hoping that the event will be a success. He also expressed hopes that players will show strong performance to reflect the UAE’s position as a regional Jiu-Jitsu hub.

It is worth mentioning that the UAEJJF launched the fifth-round of the President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup championship for the 2017-2018 season. This championship falls within the framework of UAEJJF main mission of building of a professional and capable UAE Jiu-Jitsu community and leading the UAE to reach the winners podium in regional and international events. This ambitious mission is supported and guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
