The order was issued in the spirit of the UAE National Day by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said Wam.

The reduction will be on fines incurred from December 2nd 2017 and backwards, with the discounted fines to be paid within three months starting from the date of issuing the directives, after which the full value of the fines shall be charged.

According the directives, motorists are strongly advised to comply with traffic rules and regulations and ensure safety of life and property.

Meanwhile, Gulf Today reported that no traffic fines were issued in Dubai during the past holidays – but only for minor offences.

Reckless driving and littering was penalised.

The police had earlier said that offenders would be sent an SMS with a warning stating that “normally a fine would be issued but due to National Day celebration we are letting this go.”
