Ajman is the new rapid-growth city in the UAE

ABU DHABI 2 June 2019: Ajman has witnessed a surge in urban development in recent years.

In close proximity to Dubai, Sharjah and Umm Al Qaiwain, Ajman is fast emerging as a tourism destination. A host of developments and hotel openings, retail expansion and a wide selection of new indoor and outdoor activities are further adding prominence to Ajman’s position on the tourism map.

The Ajman government has developed a very conducive business environment and it extends all-out support to investors to promote real estate, tourism and hospitality sectors, said Wam.

Major Projects

Ajman Marina: The Dh1 billion development will be the centre of attraction, promoting the emirate’s tourism, retail and hospitality sectors. It is a mixed-use development comprising residential buildings, entertainment, commercial towers and a hotel.

The six-stage project comes under the framework of the government’s plans to raise the emirate’s GDP and develop its overall infrastructure.

The project features one of the region’s largest dancing fountains. In addition, space has been reserved for seasonal festivals, carnivals and exhibitions in an open-air area.

Ajman government is developing new areas to create new destinations for living, working and entertainment to attract a diverse mix of people. Its prime focus is to invest in real estate and commercial infrastructure projects to develop and promote tourism and business activities in the emirate.

The project will bring an added value to Ajman. It is strategically located in the Corniche area, where most of the 5-star hotels are located.

Heritage District: Ajman is building a Dh25-million heritage district that is set to be a key tourist destination in the emirate.

The development project that will be built around the Ajman Museum, one of the oldest places in the Gulf. Its main goal is to preserve, highlight and promote the rich Arabian heritage of the emirate, while driving economic growth and boosting tourism.

Canopies of trees and lots of greenery will be grown around the historical area that will treat visitors to a distinctive cultural experience and take them on a journey back in time.

The 5,300-sqm project is also being developed as a venue for local and international events.

Besides showcasing the history of Ajman, the Heritage District also offers a lot of opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs.

A number of different investment options are available at competitive prices, structured to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

The project would have slots for 37 stores, ranging from 40 to 100 square metres, which would be available for businesses.

Grand Mall Complex: Work is progressing well at the Grand Mall Complex being developed by Ajman Real Estate Institution (Aqaar) in the emirate with an investment of AED800 million.

On completion, it will be home to 409 apartments, 163 commercial offices and 90 shops, as well as a hospital, restaurants and a multi-level movie theatre.

Roads, Bridges: Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department has launched many road projects, including the reconstruction of the Rashidiya Intersection, costing AED150 million, to connect Sheikh Khalifa Street with Abdullah bin Aboud and Badr streets to accommodate increasing vehicular traffic.

The new projects also includes the development of the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street and the road leading to Ajman Marina, with the cost of Dh143 million.

Feasibility and technical studies are being prepared for the development of the Dh133-million Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Street, which will stretch up to the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road until Sheikh Zayed Road.

The Department, in coordination with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, is implementing the first phase of the development of the Union Street with the intersection of Jama Street with total cost of AED 50 million. Fifteen percent of the project is complete and the road will open for traffic in the third quarter of 2020.

Sanitation: Ajman is continuing to launch sanitation projects, including a project by the Ajman Sewerage Company to expand the sewage network in Al Muwaihat areas 1,2,3 and Al Talla 2, at the cost of Dh110 million. This will link over 6,000 new properties to the network and includes the construction of 117 kilometres of sewage channels and 3,080 inspection rooms. The project is expected to be completed before the end of 2020.

The Ajman Sewage Treatment Plant is capable of treating up to 140,000 cubic metres of sewage water daily, and is currently treating some 104,000 cubic metres per day, as well as nearly 700 tanks from areas that are not served by the network.

The company is also implementing another sewage network in Al Jurf Industrial Area 2, at the cost of AED25 million.

The company has also created a plan to continue expanding its sewage network to link all major suburban areas in the emirate before the end of 2021, in line with the Ajman Government Vision 2021.

Ajman Sewerage Treatment Plant will be expanded by the end of 2021 to collect and treat more than 140,000 cubic metres of wastewater everyday, an increase from the current capacity of 104,000m3.
