Australia: A plane with five people on board has crashed into a shopping mall near Melbourne, Australia.
All five passengers were killed in the crash – four of them were American. Miraculously, no one is reported hurt or killed on the ground.
“It appears to be a very, very tragic accident that’s occurred out here … that’s potentially caused fatalities,” Victoria state police minister Lisa Neville told Sky News, reports Reuters.
The network broadcast pictures showing smoke billowing from the shopping mall near Essendon airport, a small airfield close to Melbourne, and firefighters hosing down the burning wreckage.
The shopping centre was supposed to open an hour later.
Meantime, police confirmed they received an emergency call from the pilot of the plane before it crashed, BBC reported.
Investigations are on into the crash.
