Chamber exempts outstanding fees, tourism tax cut

AJMAN 3 July 2018: Members of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been exempted from outstanding membership fees beginning 1st July 2018.

Resolution No. 21 for 2018 stipulates the exemption of the Chamber’s members, who are licensed by the Ajman Department of Economic Development, from paying outstanding membership fees accumulated since 31st December 2017, provided that members renew their membership during the exemption period ending 31st December 2018.

Tourism Tax Cut

Meanwhile, an Emiri Decree has cut tourism tax paid by hotels and tourism companies in Ajman, with the aim of promoting tourism and improving the emirate’s investment environment, said Wam.

Decree No. 08 for 2018 stipulates the reduction of tourism fees, as per articles No. 01 and 02 of Emiri Decree No. 20 for 2017 on reducing the tax on local hotels and tourism companies from 10 to 7 per cent of the value of all issued invoices.

According to the decree, this reduction will apply from 1st July, 2018, to 31st December, will be published in the Official Gazette and come into force from the moment of its signing. It will also be circulated to all relevant authorities.

Earlier in June, a resolution was approved to approve the suggestion of the Ajman Tourism Development Department to reduce the sales tax of hotels by 3 per cent until the end of the current year.
