Check out the world ‘Car of the Year’ in Dubai

DUBAI 7 November 2019: The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE is coming to this year’s Dubai International Motor Show* as the luxury British automaker indulges automotive enthusiasts with an intimate look at its history-making SUV. The Jaguar I-PACE broke records in April 2019 as the first model ever to land three Word Car titles in a single year, being named 2019 World Car of the Year, World Green Car, and the World Car Design of the Year accolade.

Underlining the car’s historic treble, the Jaguar I-PACE will take pride of place at Jaguar’s motor show stand alongside its richly deserved World Car of the Year award, on display as guests explore precisely why the Jaguar I-PACE has won 69 titles worldwide.

The Jaguar I-PACE is now available to order in MENA in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Morocco, and it will be available in the remainder of the MENA markets in the coming months.

Talking about the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE, Prof. Sir. Ralph Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover said:

“We started with an ideal, to move towards our Destination Zero vision; zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion. I-PACE is our first step to achieving this, and it was conceived when EVs were little more than a niche choice.

“So we started from a clean sheet of paper to create a new benchmark – the world’s best premium electric vehicle, and a true Jaguar driver’s car. For I-PACE to be awarded 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car gives our first all-electric vehicle the ultimate recognition it deserves.”

Bruce Robertson, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Middle East and North Africa, said:

“It is a real honour to bring the Jaguar I-PACE to an event with such prestige as the Dubai International Motor Show as we showcase a model that continues to redefine the electric vehicle space.

We have no doubt the innovative I-PACE will attract plenty of attention at the Dubai International Motor Show, especially among the eco-conscious. The model also enters the spotlight at a fitting time for Dubai and the region. In the Emirate, both private and public sectors have shown a solid commitment to helping reduce carbon emissions by 16 per cent by 2021. The Jaguar I-PACE is one example of how the automotive sector – and Jaguar, will contribute to these goals, and play a role in the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future.”

Visitors to Jaguar’s stand at Dubai International Motor Show will set eyes on a model that looks and performs like no other on the road today.

The SUV’s ultra-modern 90kWh Lithium-ion battery uses 432 pouch cells to help the I-PACE offer a range of 470km (WLTP cycle). Owners will be able to achieve a 0-80 per cent battery charge in just 40-minutes using DC rapid charging (100kW), while home charging with an AC wall box (7kW) achieves the same state of charge in just over ten hours – perfect for overnight charging at home.

On the road, exceptional performance of 400PS and 696Nm of torque – including all-wheel-drive and all-surface traction – is delivered by two Jaguar-designed electric motors at each axel. Meanwhile, the high torque density and high-energy efficiency characteristics of the motors delivers sports car-like thrills, propelling the I-PACE from stationary to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Helping the I-PACE to its World Car Design of the Year award isa sleek, coupe-like silhouette, inspired by the Jaguar C-X75 supercar. It’s seen from the SUV’s short, low bonnet, aero-enhanced roof design, and curved rear screen. The cab-forward design is complemented by an angular rear, which contributes to a reduced drag co-efficient of just 0.29Cd. Intelligent design optimises both cooling and aerodynamics, with Active Vanes in the grille opening when cooling is required and closing when not needed to redirect air through the integral bonnet scoop, smoothing airflow.

When Motor Show visitors peer inside, they’ll see that space is optimised for passengers. Here, sophisticated materials such as the optional premium textile Kvadrat interior uphold the refined luxury motorists expect from Jaguar. Although mid-size by definition, the cab-forward design and EV powertrain create interior space comparable to a large SUV. The rear legroom stretches to 890mm, while the lack of transmission tunnel allows for a convenient 10.5-litre central storage compartment. Tablet and laptop stowage is found beneath the rear seats, while the rear luggage compartment offers a 656-litre capacity, expanding to a generous 1,453-litres when the seats are folded flat.

True to the I-PACE’s revolutionary form, the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system arrives in a Jaguar for the first time here. Intuitive to use, Touch Pro Duo comprises touchscreens, capacitive sensors, and tactile physical controls. Meanwhile, a new EV navigation system assesses the route ahead and insights from previous journeys, including driving style, to calculate personalised range and charging status with exceptional accuracy for maximum driver confidence.
