DUBAI: The Internet is alive with rumours of the demise of rock ‘n roll legend Chubby Checker. But other seem to doubt the celebrity death.
BBC said he was dead, bu then a post on Facebook said: “In Honor Of A Great Musical Legend, Chubby Checker, Who did…NOT…Pass away this week”.

Rumors of the singer’s alleged demise gained traction on Friday after a ‘R.I.P. Chubby Checker’ Facebook page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’, said the post by one James Wall.
Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the American singer’s passing: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (March 17, 2017), our beloved singer Chubby Checker passed away. Chubby Checker was born on October 3, 1941 in Spring Gulley. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 75-year-old singer and songwriter was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax, said Wall.
However, Robert Shumbers, who claimed to have toured ‘a lot’ with Checker’ said: “A legend of RocknRoll died today.I had the pleasure of knowing him.we toured alot when I was playing with Chubby Checker. R.I.P.”
