Works start on Al Ghuwaifat Border Post Rehabilitation Project

ABU DHABI 12 June 2017: Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), has started work on the Al Ghuwaifat Border Post Rehabilitation Project costing Dh119 million.

Slated to be completed within 16 months, the project includes rehabilitation of fast car and truck lanes; police, customs and passport counters/checkpoints; street lighting and telecommunications networks, said Wam.

The work will involve rehabilitation of the border post on the UAE side, facilitating movement of passengers and improving the capacity of the border post, which in turn would drive investment and development in the area of trade and tourism between the UAE and Saudi Arabia and improve transportation and passenger services.

Commenting on the announcement, Saleh Al Sheibah Al Mazrouei, Musanada’s Acting Roads and Infrastructure Executive Director, said: “Musanada is keen on executing projects that help develop infrastructure and boost economic and social development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ghuwaifat Border Post project.

“This project will also involve rehabilitation of food, water and sewerage networks; security and surveillance systems, external boundary walls, waiting areas, gardens and associated external works including landscape works.

“The project which kicked off in June 2017 and included both infrastructure and building packages, is planned to be handed over by end of September 2018,” he added.

Musanada, in collaboration with the General Authority of Ports, Border and Free Zones Security and other relevant strategic stakeholders, has developed an appropriate design that cater to the operational requirements of the border post.
