Cop stops fleeing taxi thieves… and arrests them singlehanded

DUBAI 8 July 2019: Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has ordered the promotion of police officer Mustafa Awad Yahya for his bravery in the arrest of two men who stole a taxi.

Mustafa, from the General Directorate of Traffic ,received a notification from the Directorate General of Operations about the theft. He was able to identify the stolen vehicle and follow up until he stopped and took control of the thieves.

Maj. Gen. Al Marri gave a certificate of appreciation to Mustafa, stressing that the honor comes within the framework of motivating and encouraging the employees of the Dubai Police to exert more effort.

Mustafa said that he had received a report from the command and control center about a taxi being stolen while he was on patrol at Al Wahda Street. He immediately began checking the taxis passing by until he saw the wanted vehicle.

He immediately followed the taxi until he was able to cut it off using the police patrol car. He quickly headed towards the car, which had been stolen by robbers of African nationality. He cut off its engine, took the keys so that the thieves can not escape, and handcuffed the robbers one by one.

Only then did he call for support.
