14.5km pipeline project completed

DUBAI 16 July 2017: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), has made a significant progress on the supply, extension and commissioning of the 27 kilometre major water pipeline, worth Dh185 million, along the Jebel Ali to Al Hebab Road.

It is part of Dewa’s strategic plan to improve the efficiency and reliability of its water network to cope with the growing demand and increased water flow in Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Dewa Managing Director and CEO, said, “To date, 14.5km, which is 46 per cent of the project, has been completed. The project includes the extension of 27km of 1,200-millimetre-diameter glass reinforced epoxy main water pipelines, to increase water flow along the Jebel Ali to Al Hebab road to meet increasing demand of water in Nakhli, Al Aweer, Al Qudra, and Dubai International Endurance City, in addition to projects along the Al Ain road.”

He continued, “This also includes remote monitoring and control systems to effectively control the major water transmission networks all the time. This is done through automatic valves that can be remote-controlled from the control centre, to easily detect breakdowns and quickly fix them to reduce water losses in the network.”

“The date expected for the completion of the project, according to the planned programme, is May 2018,” added Al Tayer.
