Dr. Al Yousef revealed that 14 pharmacies and clinics were fined between AED20,000 to AED60,000 for violating and trying to manipulate the Dubai mandatory Health Insurance law.

Dubai Health Insurance Law No. 11 of 2013 was adopted under the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

According to the Dubai Health Insurance Law, which came into effect in January 2014, a sponsor has a legal obligation to provide an essential insurance package, fixed between AED550 and AED700, so that those with salaries under AED4,000 receive adequate cover.
