DUBAI: The UAE Ministry of Infrastructure Development has begun a major Dh250 million road project in Fujairah.
The 6km Hamad bin Abdullah Road will extend from the Nujaimat Roundabout at the end of Sheikh Khalifa Road (Dubai-Fujairah Highway) to the Federal Road E99 (Eastern Coast Highway), the Ministry said.
Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of Roads Department at the Ministry, said the construction would cost Dh250 million, with the first phase being completed in six months.
”The entire project will be finished by the third quarter of 2019 and will include three lanes on each side, as well as bridges, tunnels, traffic signals, side parking lots, service roads and pedestrian crossings,” he noted.
”The road will help increase traffic safety in the emirate,” he said.
