ABU DHABI 28 April 2018: In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the Hope Makers initiative, the largest Arab initiative to honor the champions of giving in the Arab world, will have its logo projected on five landmark buildings in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to celebrate community and humanitarian initiatives that seek to improve lives in the Arab world.

These are:

  • Headquarters of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc)
  • International Petroleum Investment Company (Ipic)
  • World Trade Center Abu Dhabi
  • Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi
  • Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain

The logo will be displayed for three consecutive evenings.

A part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the second edition Arab Hope Makers initiative has attracted more than 87,000 individuals, volunteer teams, and humanitarian and charitable non-profit organizations from across the Arab world that work to leverage all available, albeit often limited resources for the good of mankind without expectations of reward or gratitude. Its humanitarian and development programs and projects span a wide range of vital sectors including education, health, culture, women’s empowerment, youth and community service.

The initiative aims to honor champions of humanitarian and community action, highlight their efforts and support their efforts in addressing the challenges facing their societies, spreading optimism and positivity, and fighting despair and negativity.

The Hope Makers logo has illuminated prominent Arab landmarks – the Raouché Rock in Beirut in March 2018 and the Citadel of Saladin in Cairo in April 2018, aiming to motivate people across the Arab world to take initiative and contribute to their countries’ stability, prosperity and a better future.

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, said: “During the first round of the Hope Makers initiative, I was honored to be part of the final judging panel. I have come to know some of the real heroes of the Arab world. Their stories and devotion are unforgettable. Their experiences have inspired me and many others to ask countless questions about life, our role as individuals, and the contribution that each of us can make to our society.”

She added: “Together with the rest of the Arab world, Abu Dhabi is celebrating the initiative that encourages, supports and motivates the hope makers to continue their journey of giving and spreading hope. Instilling a culture of altruism is the need of the hour. Hope, openness, tolerance and culture can protect our society against negative and destructive ideas.”

Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State, Chairman of the National Media Council and Chief Executive Officer of Adnoc Group, said: “The UAE leadership has always proactively supported nation-building and community-building endeavors that consolidate stability, prosperity and development. The Hope Makers is a unique initiative that highlights inspiring humanitarian and community projects, and celebrates the Arab world’s champions who contribute to building prosperous nations.”
