Dubai Police asks you to help it fight cybercrime

DUBAI 2 May 2018: Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has launched the eCrime platform on the Internet to receive e-crimes reports from members of the public in a smooth and convenient method through the website: www.ecrime.ae

The launch was held in cooperation with the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) and Dubai Electronic Security Center.

This service is launched in accordance with the Dubai 2021 Plan, where it has been agreed to come up with an e-service that allows internet users to report any suspicious online activity.

Maj-Gen Al Marri stressed that this service is provided by Dubai Police through the website so that it is available to all members of the society in an easy and smooth way to report cyberspace suspicious activities, namely: suspicious e-mails, Social Media related issues, Internet Calls, Hacking, Online bullying, Cyber-extortion etc.

There are only seven simple steps to submit a report via the eCrime platform.

  1. Go to www.ecrime.ae and determine whether the complaint relates to cybercrime or online service
  2. The complainant then enters their ID card and contact number
  3. Then confirms the contact number via a text message on their mobile phone
  4. followed by filling in some personal data
  5. And identifying the whereabouts of the defendant and
  6. Then filling the details of the complaint, and
  7. Finally submitting the claim

The service aims at providing true and effective measurement of cybercrime that leads to the transfer of a true picture of cybercrime, and increasing the number of complaints filed by the public and private companies electronically. The service also aims at providing efforts and time to electronic crime complainants, as well as the time and efforts of officers, investigators at police stations and the Department of E-Investigation.
