DUBAI 30 April 2018: Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has launched a new platform called ‘Rahhal’ that allows students to enjoy greater learning opportunities, anywhere and anytime.
Rahhal provides an alternative approach to education through a framework that can be customised to the needs of each specific learner.
Through Rahhal, students who wish to study at a mainstream school and part-time elsewhere in the community will be able to do so, said Wam.
Students at Indian High School in Dubai will be among the first to experience the platform and benefit from out-of-school learning opportunities.
Learners participating in Rahhal will be recognised by KHDA and also work closely with teachers at their school to ensure maximum learning.
The pilot phase is being launched by KHDA as part of 10x, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative which aims to take Dubai ten years into the future within two years.
Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman Director-General of KHDA said, “We are taking a big leap away from the traditional model of education and experiencing the future of learning. Rahhal is all about giving students a chance to experience their full potential and benefit from learning both within and outside the school. This marks a milestone for all of working in the education sector.”
Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation said, “Dubai 10X is one of the projects launched by Dubai Future Foundation that aspires to position Dubai 10 years ahead by disrupting key sectors like education, aviation and many others. Rahhal could possibly create a new model for education where learning can continue away from school too and the success of this pilot phase relies on the involvement of students and parents.”
The launch event witnessed the signing of the first Rahhal-enabled contracts between the school and parents.
Hind Al Mualla, Chief of Creativity, Happiness and Innovation at KHDA said, “The message of Rahhal is simple – the world is a classroom and all learning counts. It is a fully customisable platform that will help turn anyone, and any organisation, into a learning provider, and turn all of us into lifelong learners.”
Hind added, “We have spoken with parents, schools, government entities and private organisations to understand their ideas on how education can be disrupted with innovative ideas.”
Dr Ashok Kumar, CEO of Indian High School said, “Rahhal truly ascertains the statement that learning is beyond the realms of a classroom.
