Crescent moon sighted, Eid started Tuesday in UAE

ABU DHABI 3 June 2019: It is Eid Al Fitr tomorrow (June 4th) as the crescent has been sighted, said Dubai Goverment Media Office.

“UAE announces Tuesday as the first day of Eid Al Fitr,” it tweeted.

“Eid Mubarak to the people of UAE and the Muslim and Arab world. May we all celebrate a peaceful and blessed Eid,” tweeted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the 4th of June, will be the first day of Shawwal 1440 H, marking the beginning of Eid Al Fitr, announced the Moon-sighting Committee in a statement issued after its meeting tonight at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, and Chairman of the Committee, said the committee, after exhausting the sharia methods of sighting the Shawwal crescent and making the necessary contacts with neighbouring countries, declares that today, Monday, the 3rd of June, is the last day of Ramadan 1440 and Tuesday, the 4th of June, is the first day of Eid Al Fitr, said Wam.

The minister and members of the committee extended warm congratulations on the glorious occasion to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and Crown Princes. They wished the President good health and wellbeing.

They also congratulated the UAE people and Muslims across the world on the auspicious occasion.

UAE leaders congratulate heads of Arab, Islamic states on Eid Al Fitr

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has sent cables of congratulations to the kings, Emirs and presidents of Arab and Islamic states on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa wished them and their peoples continued progress, prosperity and stability.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have dispatched similar cables to the leaders of Arab and Islamic states on the auspicious occasion.
