Etihad, Emirates, Wizz Air AD open new flights

UAE 9 July 2021: Emirates has announced it will restart passenger services to Mauritius this summer with two weekly flights from 15th July, as the island-nation gradually re-opens its borders to international tourists.

The airline has also announced it will deploy its iconic Emirates A380 aircraft to Mauritius starting 1st August. The flights to Mauritius will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Starting from 15th July, the route will be served utilising a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, and from 1st August, utilising the Emirates A380 aircraft.

From 15th July to 30th September 2021, Mauritius will open its borders to vaccinated passengers and Mauritian nationals. From 1 October, the country will start to welcome fully vaccinated travellers who can explore the island freely with no restrictions.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to fly to Baku

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a national airline of the UAE, has announced its latest route to Baku, Azerbaijan starting on 14th of August 2021. The launch of the new route will see the airline now fly to 29 destinations. Azerbaijan is currently on Abu Dhabi’s green country list meaning that travellers will not be required to quarantine upon arrival or when returning back to the UAE’s capital.

The flight to Baku will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Tickets are on sale on wizzair.com and the airline’s mobile app (also available in Arabic), with fares starting as low as AED 179*.

The new route to the capital city of Azerbaijan opens up yet another opportunity for travellers to explore amazing destinations from Abu Dhabi or reconnect with friends and family.

Etihad operates first flight to Mykonos in Greece

Etihad Airways on Thursday operated its inaugural flight EY175 to the Greek island of Mykonos.

The flight took off from Abu Dhabi at 9.00am and landed in Mykonos International Airport at 12.12pm local time. The service is being operated twice per week on Thursdays and Saturdays using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Mykonos is the first of three seasonal European routes that Etihad is launching for the 2021 summer season and will be operated between 8 July and 11 September.

On Friday, Etihad will also introduce twice per week flights to the Greek island of Santorini and the southern Spanish city of Malaga.
