DUBAI 7 September 2018: The 10 people who were taken ill on board Emirates flight from Dubai to New York, showed symptoms of flu, reports said.

Neither media nor official reports said how the passengers caught the bug.

It was reported that the plane was quarantined by US airport authorities. However, Emirates issued a statement saying that all passengers had disembarked from flight EK 203.

“All passengers were screened by the local health authorities prior to disembarkation. The rest of the passengers were allowed to leave and clear customs. Our crew and on-ground staff extended our full cooperation with the authorities during the on-board screenings and the aircraft has now been handed back to Emirates.”

Emirates airline had earlier confirmed that 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill and had been taken to hospital.

“On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities and those needing medical attention were attended to… 3 passengers and 7 crew were transferred to the hospital for further medical care and evaluation. Nine passengers underwent additional medical screening at the site near the aircraft and were released afterwards,” Emirates said.
