A court in Khorfakkan sentenced an Emirati to one year in prison after he was found guilty of insulting another national through Instagram on his mobile phone.
The court found that the defendant, 22, used “obscene and insulting” words in his messages to the plaintiff although he does not know him.
“The defendant confessed to the police that he used those words and pleaded guilty in court…he was sentenced to one year in jail,” Emarat Alyoum daily said.
