Empower awarded Dh465m contracts in 9 months

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, signed 42 contracts worth Dh465 million in the first three quarters of 2016 with various companies to serve its expansion strategy in Dubai.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of the company said the contracts included establishment, expansion and development of services, in response to higher demand and to further enhance the quality of district cooling services provided by Empower.

“District cooling requires special management strategy and ample knowledge on the requirements of each area. These contracts provide world-class technologies to new projects in addition to expansion of supply networks in other projects. We reviewed a large number of proposals and selected partners in due diligence, mainly depending on their level of efficiency and quality,” added Bin Shafar.

“There is still great potential for the expansion of district cooling network in Dubai, and it would be imperative to create the reliable infrastructure that would meet the growing demand and customer base. We tailor our strategy of expansion based on the current and future demand, ensuring adoption of efficient standards and high availability round the clock,” elaborated Bin Shafar.

Some of the contracts signed by Empower included professional consultancy for full design, engineering, contract administration and construction supervision as well as managing the company’s plant in TECOM C. Also, the company has signed a 25,000 RT contract to serve Bluewaters’ facilities, residential units, retail stores, commercial buildings and hotels.
