sealed-bid silent auction for a luxury piece of jewellery

SHARJAH 16 July 2017: Vulnerable girls across the region are set to benefit from a special charity auction being organised by The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), the Sharjah-based global humanitarian organisation.

The foundation has partnered with renowned French jewellery brand Bouchron to conduct a sealed-bid silent auction for a luxury piece of jewellery, with the proceeds of the sale going to its recently launched Girl Child Fund, said Wam.

Taking place between July and September this year, TBHF’s silent auction will see a unique ‘Boucheron Ava Nod’ necklace going under the hammer.

Launched by Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of TBHF and wife of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Girl Child Fund aims to improve access to education and healthcare for young women around the world, and combat issues that negatively impact on childhood, such as child marriage and child trafficking. The fund also aims to unite international efforts and implement strict policies that protect girls and address the specific challenges they face.

“The silent auction organised by TBHF in partnership with Boucheron, one of the world’s most renowned luxury brands, underscores the strong ties between humanitarian institutions in the UAE and local and international private corporations. Highlighting the values of selflessness, generosity and giving, our partnership aims to support vulnerable girls and those who are most in need. We are delighted to launch the Girl Child Fund’s first initiative with this auction, which we hope will bring about a tangible positive change in their lives.” said Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of TBHF.

“Through this new fund, we are aspiring to collaborate with individuals and corporations to support humanitarian initiatives that target disadvantaged girls. We aim to provide meaningful assistance to girls who are experiencing harsh conditions and who do not have access to education and healthcare for reasons linked to the social and political conditions in their countries,” she added.

The launch of the Girl Child Fund coincides with the UAE’s Year of Giving and was conceived to promote the values of empathy, selflessness, self-sacrifice and to help community segments that are in dire need of assistance. TBHF’s silent auction will contribute to providing part of the fund’s financial resources and will cover the cost of implementing a number of programmes and projects that focus on education and healthcare.

TBHF, which is dedicated to helping refugees and people in need worldwide, will supervise all future projects and initiatives launched by the Girl Child Fund. The foundation will also cover the Fund’s incorporation costs and will open the door for corporate and community involvement through support, sponsoring and fund-raising campaigns to boost its capacities at all levels.
