The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) announced that registration for the Cup’s Final Round, which began in September of 2017, officially closed on March 19. The single-belt system for the Round will include both male and female participants from the following three age groups: Professional (21+), Junior (U21), and Aspirants (U18).

Athletes hailing from some of the most prominent clubs in the UAE will be hosted for the Final Round at the Mubadala Arena; with the award ceremony for the 2017/18 Champions following the culmination of the round.

The President’s Cup, which aims to encourage competition amongst UAE clubs, is held exclusively for UAE nationals in a bid to discover and foster distinguished national talents who are registered with local clubs. Further, the event seeks to provide additional opportunities for participants to elevate their skills and to help them qualify for national teams and international competitions.

The Championship continues to attract a growing number of participants. The 5th Round of the Cup is witnessing a significant increase in rates of registration, which reflects the determination of the various players and clubs to compete for the first rank following the last four rounds. Currently, the Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club leads with a total of 2,734 points, the Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy comes second with 2,010 points and the Al Jazira Sports Club at third with 1,785.

Al Dhaheri: “The 5th Round is expected to witness significant developments at every level.”

Mansoor Al Dhaheri, UAEJJF Board Member, said: “Our aspirations to disseminate the sport through the nation and to enhance its status have indeed been met, as is evident from the past four rounds. The players have shown remarkable ability and determination to compete and win.”

Al Dhaheri predicted that the fierce competition within the Final Round will witness significant developments at every level, with events culminating with crowning a winner of the most beloved title within the hearts of all participants.

He added: “The UAEJJF seeks to disseminate the appreciation and talent for Jiu-Jitsu, and to provide all players with the abilities to enhance both their levels and their skillsets to become competitive world-class champions.”

Al Dhaheri then concluded: “We have witnessed extremely high rates of both registration and participation in the Cup. As such, it is evident that it has become a platform to develop the skills of Jiu-Jitsu champions and to prepare them to participate in international sports-forums in the future. The Cup’s level is no less than other international championships, which contribute towards equipping our national champions to participate in upcoming international championships, harvest more medals and promote greater achievements.”
