Fire at JLT’s Almas tower put out quickly – all safe

DUBAI 23 April 2018: A fire at one of Dubai’s tallest buildings – Almas Tower in the Jumeirah Lake Towers district – was put down successfully within minutes.

No one was hurt in the incident, Dubai authorities said.

“Dubai Civil Defence has fully brought under control a minor fire that broke out in Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The building was evacuated safely. No injuries have been reported,” said the Dubai Government Media Office.

The fire reportedly started at close of 3pm and smoke could be seen billowing from the top of the building at the base of its antenna/flag pole structure.

Dubai Civil Defence and police cordoned off the area while dealing with the incident to ensure speedy access to emergency vehicles and personnel.

The mixed use building has 68 floors.

Almas Tower is the tallest tower in the JLT with a gross floor area of 1.7 million square feet as well as thousands of parking slots and 35 high speed elevators.

There is also an Almas Conference Center covering around 800 square meter and located on the ground floor of the building that has a capacity to host at least 500 delegates at a time.
