ABU DHABI 9 October 2017: The official draw of the Fifa Club World Cup UAE 2017 will take place on Monday, 9th October, at 12:00 noon local time (GMT +4) in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to representatives from clubs that have qualified so far, Real Madrid C.F., C.F. Pachuca, Auckland City FC and Al Jazira Club, the Official Draw will welcome a number of local and international stars at Abu Dhabi’s Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel. The draw will be streamed live on FIFA.com, said Wam.
“The FIFA Club World Cup is the pinnacle of global professional club football, with the top clubs from six continents coming to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to compete for the title of FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Champion,” said Aref Al Awani, Tournament Director of the LOC. “Fans will no doubt be excited to find out who their favourite teams and heroes will be playing this December,” Al Awani added.
Four teams have so far confirmed qualification for this year’s edition of the competition: Auckland City FC of New Zealand (OFC Champions League winners), C.F. Pachuca of Mexico (CONCACAF Champions League winners), Real Madrid C.F. of Spain (UEFA Champions League winners) and the UAE’s host team and Arabian Gulf League winner, Al Jazira. The winners of this year’s AFC Champions League, Copa Libertadores and CAF Champions League, will be determined at the end of November.
Six continental winners from Asia, South America, North America, Africa and Australasia, in addition to the host nation’s league champion, will come together to compete for the ultimate club accolade this December.
Meanwhile, the LOC has recently launched a community-led initiative to get the public actively involved in the 14th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017. A nation-wide search for Youth Leaders, between the ages of 13-21, has rolled out across the UAE, giving football fans the unique chance to become FIFA Club World Cup champions of their communities. For the opportunity to win extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime prizes, Youth leaders are tasked with encouraging their friends to take part in activities leading up to the competition, including action-packed challenges in the Experience and Excitement Mobile Roadshows.
The roadshows are touring the UAE and are scheduled to visit the world’s largest mall, The Dubai Mall, from 5th to 14th October. On Monday, following the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Official draw, the Mobile Roadshow will welcome a number of football legends who will compete at the event from 6 p.m.. The Mobile Roadshows consist of a series of 12 skill-based games and six social experiences, which are individually measurable, testing participants football abilities. Scores will be captured in a mobile phone app, where individuals will be able to rank their performances against friends, family and colleagues and give participants the chance to win amazing prizes.
