MOSCOW 16 July 2018: France won the World Cup Russia in thrilling final with Croatia at Moscow’s Luzhniki stadium on Sunday.
France overwhelmed Croatia 4-2 to be FIFA World Cup 2018 champion for second time.
Croatia was playing in its first World Cup final.
For France, it was a first World Cup crown since winning on home soil in 1998.
UAE leaders congratulate French President
ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory message to French President Emmanuel Macron on his country’s win of the 2018 World Cup final in Russia, said Wam.
The President expressed warm congratulations to the French president for the best performance shown by the French team.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar messages of congratulations to president Macron.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa also sent a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on the good and successful organisation of the 2018 World Cup final in Moscow.
President Khalifa lauded Russia for providing huge resources and potentials to the participating teams,which contributed to the success of the Cup and delivery of its aspired noble goals.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, also congratulated the Russian president.
Russia to keep visa-free entry for football fans until end of 2018: Putin
MOSCOW: Russia will provide visa-free entrance to the country for football fans with fan IDs until the end of 2018, Russian President said.
“I think that we will provide visa-free entrance to Russia for foreign fans, who currently have fan IDs, until the end of 2018. This will be a multiple entry visa-free regime,” Putin told reporters.
According to Russian news agency Sputnik, the Russian leader expressed hope that fans will take advantage of this opportunity and “come to Russia more than once with friends and members of their families.”
Putin has taken part in the closing ceremony of the championship and the ceremony of awarding the winner.
