Fujairah to begin construction of Smart Logistics City

first phase in next five years

COPENHAGEN 19 July 2017: The Government of Fujairah has signed a partnership agreement with Minpoint Business Investments and Niras International Consultancy, to begin the first phase of construction of the Smart Logistics City in Fujairah.

Fujairah sits on the Arabian Sea with direct access to the Indian Ocean for ships which do not have to pass through the narrow Straits of Hormuz. It has emerged, over the years, as a major bunkering port and oil export terminal.

The agreement was signed in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, by Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Head of the Emiri Court in Fujairah, Director-General of the Fujairah Investment Corporation and representative of the Fujairah Government, and Karol Marcinkowski, Chairman of Niras, in the presence of Martin Pedersen, CEO of the company, said Wam.

The first phase of the major project will take place at its primary location, in a 68,000 square metre area of land, and will be completed in three stages over the next five years. The start of the project’s first phase is planned for the end of 2018, as per the partnership agreement.

Al Dhanhani stressed that the project, which will be constructed in Fujairah, reflects the global economic and investment presence of the emirate and its comprehensive future development vision.

Al Dhanhani added that the emirate’s investment-friendly environment and flexible economic legislations have contributed to the launch of various investment projects, including the Smart Logistics City.

Martin Pedersen said that the Smart Logistics City will provide a new and innovative way of conducting business in the UAE, and its location was selected due to its strategic geographic location near Africa and Asia.

Karol Marcinkowski added that the design of the project’s offices, business packages and smart storage systems will make the new business park the prime choice for businesses targeting emerging and local markets.
