Fujairah Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship begins today

ABU DHABI 26 January 2018: The second 2018 Fujairah International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicks off today (Friday).

The championship has succeeded in attracting champions and belt holders from multiple nationalities to compete at the new Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah on 26th and 27th January, said Wam.

The first day of the Fujairah Championship will be dedicated to No Gi form of the competition, while the second day will be dedicated to Gi form.

“The Abu Dhabi Media Company, ADM, represented by the Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, is keen to cover jiu-jitsu tournaments and championships, which emphasise our responsibility towards national events and continued commitment to our partnership with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, UAEJJF,” said Yaqoub Al Saadi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Sports Channels.

“Since the start of the 2017-2018 season, we have been able to help this fine sport’s base of audience grow rapidly, utilising Abu Dhabi Sports platforms as part of our efforts to establish Abu Dhabi as a jiu-jitsu capital. The aim of this partnership is to support UAEJJF’s efforts to expand the sport’s participation and follower base and to educate the community more about the sport,” he added.

The UAEJJF is preparing for Round-4 of President’s Cup held at Al Dhafra on 3rd February, and the Ras al-Khaimah International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship on 16th and 17th February. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Challenge Championship will also be held the same month on the 23rd and 24th. March will witness Round-3 of the Mother of the Nation Women’s Jiu-Jitsu Championship, kicking off on the 16th and the final Round-5 of the President’s Cup will be held on the 17th of the same month.
