DUBAI 10 April 2017: The Dubai Municipality team, represented by its Waste Management Department, bagged the first Happiness Cup Cricket after defeating the Khan Saheb Company team in the final match played at the Dubai Sports City Stadium.

The match was witnessed by a packed crowd of 1,000 spectators, in addition to the official presence of the leadership of Dubai Municipality and Dubai Sports City authorities and participating teams.

“This tournament comes within the framework of our continuous support and caring for employees and discovering their talents and sports abilities outside of daily work. This will contribute towards enhancing the corporate values of happiness for employees, specifically the cleaning staff,” said AbdulMajid Sifai, Director of Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality.

In its first edition, the tournament had six teams, Waste Management Team representing Dubai Municipality, Dubai Sports City, Khan Saheb, Imdaad Group, Modern Medical Centre Group and the Servo team, playing one day matches.

As sponsors, Dubai Sports City had the largest part of the support by providing the stadium and facilities for the teams and the public, in addition to private sector participation that had the effect of making the tournament a success.
