Faceless Heroes to recognise backline health staff

DUBAI 15 January 2021: As the Covid-19 pandemic rages on, the world has woken up to an undeniable reality: healthcare professionals are risking their lives to treat the sick during this unprecedented global health crisis.

While doctors and nurses are receiving their due recognition, there are thousands of support staff workers in healthcare environments — from lab technicians, medical coders and insurance coordinators to receptionists, cashiers and janitors — who also show bravery as they help keep medical facilities operational. Their dedication fuels the healthcare system and empowers frontline healthcare practitioners to tend to patients’ needs.

Accumed Practice Management, a leading Revenue Cycle Management company in the GCC, wants to shine a well-deserved spotlight on these behind-the-scenes heroes. Its new initiative, Faceless Heroes, features stories of selfless service, starring the back-end workers of the UAE’s healthcare industry. With real-life stories told through articles, videos, three short films on individual professions and a feature-length documentary, Faceless Heroes showcases the key role played by healthcare support staff in ensuring the effective operations of medical facilities, the swift recovery of patients and the safety of their communities.

Dr. Ayham Refaat, founder and CEO of Accumed, envisioned the concept of Faceless Heroes because he wants to recognize healthcare workers who have been critical to his own success over his 20-year career: “I’ve always believed that I owe so much of my professional accomplishments to everyone working behind the scenes. Now, during the Covid-19 pandemic, they are risking their lives, just like our frontline warriors, but they’re outside the limelight. It’s time to change that. Accumed is excited to give these backline heroes a platform where we can all thank and celebrate each worker.”

Anyone can nominate a healthcare worker for Faceless Heroes through the campaign’s website at www.faceless-heroes.com or through Accumed’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages. Back-end workers are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves, though friends, family, and coworkers can also submit nominations. Selected nominees will be interviewed with their stories featured across the campaign’s platforms and the top stories will be receiving a cash award of $1,500.
