DUBAI 16 August 2019: Here are some simple steps to protect yourself from SIM swap attacks – a new form of identity theft, according to Noor Bank.
- Call your mobile operator if your number has stopped working for a longer than usual period or displays a ‘SIM not registered’ message
- Register for SMS and email alerts to stay informed about your bank account activities
- Regularly check your bank statements and transaction history for any irregularities
- Ensure proper disposal of old phone SIM card when transitioning to a new one
- Refrain from sharing your mobile number on social media platforms
If fraudsters have acquired your SIM details, they can hack into your bank account via Internet-banking and steal your funds posing as you.
Follow these steps and be safe.
