DUBAI 16 August 2019: Here are some simple steps to protect yourself from SIM swap attacks – a new form of identity theft, according to Noor Bank.

  1. Call your mobile operator if your number has stopped working for a longer than usual period or displays a ‘SIM not registered’ message
  2. Register for SMS and email alerts to stay informed about your bank account activities
  3. Regularly check your bank statements and transaction history for any irregularities
  4. Ensure proper disposal of old phone SIM card when transitioning to a new one
  5. Refrain from sharing your mobile number on social media platforms

If fraudsters have acquired your SIM details, they can hack into your bank account via Internet-banking and steal your funds posing as you.

Follow these steps and be safe.
