ICC Academy to offer Level 3 cricket coaching in UAE

Course will take place in December

The International Cricket Council Academy (ICC Academy) announced that it will be hosting its first Level 3 Coach Education Course from December 4 to 9 at its world class venue in Dubai Sports City.

The course will be directed by Ashley Ross, ICC Academy’s Performance Pathway and Coach Development Lead and former New Zealand Black Caps Assistant Head Coach and has been developed by a range of subject-matter specialists from around the world.

The ICC Academy Level 3 qualification is designed to support coaches who currently coach or aspire to coach performance-level cricketers and that have already completed their Level 1 and 2 qualifications.

The course will offer candidates the unique opportunity to learn and develop their coaching skills and techniques across all formats of the game.

ICC Academy Manager, Will Kitchen, said: “Coach and player development is a top priority here at the ICC Academy, this is why we are delighted to be able to offer the Level 3 coaching course. We’ve spent time ensuring that the learning programme recognises our global reach and addresses the key issues that coaches face when coaching in different parts of the world in different formats of the game. Cricket is a game that is changing quickly and we want to help coaches to embrace those changes.

“At ICC Academy we have successfully helped to educate and qualify hundreds of coaches, many of whom are now helping us develop our players and the game in the UAE.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this new programmes to our existing coaches and provide them with the opportunity to build upon their existing skill-sets and learn a wide variety of new skills too. I have no doubt that this will not only enhance coach development but have a big impact on player development.”

The ICC Academy Level 3 programme is the cricket world’s first “paperless” Level 3 coach education qualification.

Candidates will instead have access to a personalised online ICC Academy learning support tool.
