DUBAI 1 September 2019: The September issue of Vogue Arabia delves into the surreal world of Kim Kardashian West, with the entrepreneur and reality TV queen starring in her first-ever cover story for the magazine. The shoot is accompanied by a refreshingly honest interview by her husband, rapper and designer Kanye West.

The supercharged, superstar cover features iconic designer Manfred Thierry Mugler leading the art direction. Mugler, who previously worked with Kardashian West for the 2019 Met Gala, designing her infamous “wet dress,” was excited to work with the star again. “I love working with Kim,” he says. “She is cool and brilliant. When Vogue Arabia asked me to take part, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to portray Kim in a new vision. It was a great team to work with.”

“The shoot and interview reveal a side to Kim that many have never seen before,” adds Vogue Arabia Editor-in-Chief Manuel Arnaut. “Her interview with Kanye is both real and raw, as she talks personally about her career and family life. It was inspiring to assemble this unique level of talent.”

The cover story was shot in the Los Angeles desert by photographer Txema Yeste, with the project overseen by Vogue Arabia Fashion Director Katie Trotter.

In her one-on-one interview with her Grammy award-winning husband, Kardashian West talks family life, fame, and dispels many of the misconceptions she has faced in her career, including being underestimated. The star – who is currently studying law and who has successfully worked with the US government on criminal justice issues – reveals in the interview, “There is a misconception that I don’t actually have to study and that I’ve bought my way into getting a law degree – that’s absolutely not true… Being underestimated and over-delivering is my vibe.” On the lessons she wishes to share with her audience, she keeps it simple: “I try to be a good person and to take my mistakes and make them into a better experience — to learn and grow from them and move on.” On her first proper date with West she adds, “I was like, ‘Damn, why did I waste so much time and energy? Why didn’t I do this sooner?’”

The bumper fashion issue will have three covers, each starring Kim Kardashian West.
