DUBAI 27 March 2018: Children in Dubai will not need to go to a police station for giving statements about being abused – they will be taken to a hotel, a play area or a public park for questioning instead.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, inaugurated special rooms to question children about abuse and crimes they were victim of, in a manner that respects their humanitarian and social situation and their privacy.

Based on the principle that children may not fully understand what is happening with them, Dubai Police has ordered added protection for children under the age of 16 in domestic violence, sexual harassment, abuse and violence cases.

The new special rooms were inaugurated at different locations namely:

  • IMG at the Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha,
  • Hyatt Park Hotel
  • Women Association in Al Hamryah,
  • Hyatt Regency Dubai,
  • Radisson Blu Hotel- Dubai Deira Creek,
  • Dubai Center for the People of Determination in Al Qusais Police Station Jurisdiction,
  • Bin Sougat Centre
  • Ayan Equestrian Club in Al Rashdiya Police Station Jurisdiction
  • Women Association in Hatta

The new initiative falls in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure highest levels of happiness to all members of society.
