Meet the man who ‘pictured’ Dubai Police for 41 years

DUBAI 23 September 2018: He worked in the Dubai Police force for 41 years and headed the photography division – quietly and with dedication.

Now he is retired and will head back to his home country filled with pride at what he has achieved.

Mushtaq Ahmed Amir has documented the history of Dubai Police for the past four decades – and for that he was honoured by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

Amir served as Head of the Photography Division of the Department of Security Media in the Public Administration for Community Happiness.

Al Marri praised Amir’s competence in performing the tasks entrusted to him. “He was an exemplary example of ethics and dedication in the work, and I wish everyone to follow his footsteps.”

Major General Al Marri presented a certificate of appreciation and in-kind gift to Amir for his contribution to the Dubai Police, wishing him a happy life.

Amir expressed his thanks and gratitude to the General Command of the Dubai Police for giving him the opportunity to be in the ranks for 41 years, noting that he is very proud to work in Dubai Police for this long period. He thanked his colleagues.

Joined 1977

Amir joined Dubai Police on October 13, 1977 and took a large number of photographs during his career, which documented the history of the force and its stages of development, as well as taking photographs of some historical events in the UAE where he was among the first to specialise in photography in the UAE .

He traveled with police delegations to many countries to document their participation in international events and festivals such as the Police Olympics in Australia, 1988, Canada 1990 and USA 1992. He also organised several photo galleries including an exhibition in Washington DC.
