Mohamed, Bill Gates review their global fight against diseases

ABU DHABI 4 June 2019: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received a phone call from Bill Gates, the Co-Founder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where they addressed a number of issues of common interest.

The humanitarian efforts made by the two sides toward fighting and preventing diseases and epidemics hindering socio-economic development, including polio, featured high in the conversation.

They also touched on the ‘Reaching the Last Mile Forum’, to be hosted by the UAE capital on November 19th-2019, where a select of health leaders, specialists and experts from around the world will be participating to exchange knowledge and best practices on methods of combating and preventing the transmission of infectious and communicable diseases, said Wam.

Sheikh Mohamed and Gates underlined their successful anti-disease partnership which has so far resulted in controlling diseases affecting children and women around the world.

They doubled on the importance of concerted action and fostering synergy between regional and international humanitarian and charity organisations to ensure best results and practices in the field of healthcare and disease fighting.
