Mohamed bin Zayed visits sick poet in hospital

ABU DHABI 12 March 2018: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has visited Yemeni poet Fadl Mahmoud Saleh, who is receiving medical treatment at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohamed reassured on his health condition and wished him quick recovery.

In turn, Saleh extended thanks and appreciation for Sheikh Mohamed’s kind visit, while expressing his gratitude at the noble values and great sacrifices provided by the UAE to support the Yemeni people to restore legitimacy, security and stability in Yemen, said Wam.

Sheikh Mohamed was accompanied by Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary to the Crown Prince’s Court; Dr Mohammad Ateeq Al Falahi Secretary-General of the Emirates UAE Red Crescent, and a number of officials.

Mohamed inspects infrastructure projects

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed inspected the status of a number of infrastructure developmental initiatives in the capital during a visit to the Abu Dhabi City Municipality premises.

The projects inspected by Sheikh Mohamed included the digitalisation scheme by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities and a number of other initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and streamline the pace of work in areas of land transactions and social services.

Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Municipality, conducted a presentation to His Highness on the infrastructure projects being carried out and affirmed that the development of work at the municipality is an integral part of the ambitious urban vision of Abu Dhabi that envisages establishment of sustainable services to ensure economic sustainability and social welfare.

Sheikh Mohamed during the tour doubled on the importance of engaging the private sector in the development drive being carried out under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He called for accomplishing the municipal digitalisation project by the end of the 2018 and expediting the establishment of a department to look into the complaints of clients in order to ensure efficient improvement of services.

He also directed to start discussions on the privatisation of municipal services in the capital as part of the overall plan to turn Abu Dhabi to a favourable global destination at the tourist and economic levels.

Sheikh Mohamed called for completing the development of legislations and policies at the construction and urban consultation sector in three months and ensure the development of technical standards and criteria for all departments operating in this essential sector.

Sheikh Mohamed also directed the Department to establishing a bike track at Hodariyat Island within the coming two months besides establishing beach and entertainment zones for residents in line with the government’s policy to provide multiple recreation options while maintaining the protection of the environment.

Accompanying Abu Dhabi Crown Prince during the tour was Falah Mohamed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Urban Planning Council and Municipalities.

“By adopting the latest state-of-the-art-technologies over the past years, including artificial intelligence, Abu Dhabi Municipality has managed to significantly improve customer service as part of the UAE leadership’s directives to ensure social welfare for all segments of society,” Al Ahbabi said.

Mohamed witnesses Mubadala Petroleum-Eni pact

Mubadala Petroleum and Italy’s Eni signed an agreement to purchase a 10 per cent stake in the Egyptian Shorouk Concession. The signing ceremony was presided over by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister of Italy.

The stake in the offshore Shorouk Concession encompasses the giant Zohr gas field located in the Mediterranean Sea.

Attending the signing in Abu Dhabi was Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The agreement was signed by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Mubadala Investment Company, on behalf of Mubadala Petroleum, and Mr Claudio Descalzi, Chief Executive Officer of Eni.

Eni is operator with currently 60 percent interest and other partners in the concession are BP with 10 percent interest and Rosneft with 30 percent interest.

The completion of the transaction is subject to the satisfaction of certain standard conditions, including receiving approvals from the relevant Egyptian Government authorities.

Claudio Descalzi, Chief Executive Officer of Eni, said: “We are pleased to be working with Mubadala and welcome them into the partnership for the Shorouk concession. This represents a further signal about the strength and quality of this world class asset developed by Eni.”

The Zohr field was discovered by Eni in August 2015 and is the largest natural gas field ever found in the Mediterranean, with a total potential of up to 30 trillion cubic feet of gas in place. The field is located approximately 190 kilometers north of Port Said in waters approximately 1,500m deep. Production in the first phase of the Zohr gas field commenced in December 2017.

Attending the signing were Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Staff Major General Eisa Saif Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, the Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, and Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, Ambassador of the UAE to Italy, along with a number of officials.
