Mohamed, Hamdan take part in ‘Walk Unified’

ABU DHABI 27 January 2018: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces , together with Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, participated in the ‘Walk Unified’ event at Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life took part in the initiative organised by the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi, in a move that encourages the integration of people of determination (special needs) in social events, initiatives, and voluntary work.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was keen to bring along his children and grandchildren to take part in this noble cause for the good of society. He expressed his pride in being part of the event along with volunteers, people of determination, and other participants.

His Highness said that leading a lifestyle with a focus on positivity, sports and voluntary work boosts the sense of belonging to this great nation. ‘This initiative calls for solidarity, consideration, and giving,’ he added.

The ‘Walk Unified’ initiative will be held on Fridays from 15:00 to 18:00 until March 1st, 2018 at Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi. It comes as the UAE gears up to host the Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Games (14-22 March 2018) and the Special Olympics World Games 2019.

Also participating in the ‘Walk Unified’ event were Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Department of Transport – Abu Dhabi Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikha Al Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, and the General Director of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi Jaber Mohammed Ghanem Al Suwaidi.
