ABU DHABI 4 February 2018: Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko has appreciated the remarkable role played by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in the release of Belarusian citizen Vyachesav Kachura who had been under detention in Libya since 2011.

In a message to Sheikh Mohamed, Lukashenko expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, saying, “This act of good will of Your Highness is a bright example of commitment of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates to the values of humanism and justice. It deserves profound respect.”

“What you have done for our citizen is much more than just helping him restore his lost right to freedom. You gave him an opportunity to see his family and friends after many years of separation; you helped him regain confidence in the future,” the Belarusian leader said.

Alexander Lukashenko assured that Belarus is a reliable partner of the UAE and values the relations of friendship and trust between the two countries, said Wam.

Vyachesav Kachura returned home on 2nd February following diligent endeavours made by the UAE as part of its mediation and reconciliation efforts with different Libyan parties to reach a political and peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis that ensures Libya’s independence and its territorial integrity and puts an end to the subversive attempts made by terror groups who are tampering with the country’s security and undermining its stability.
