The centre received 349,172 calls in Ramadan and recorded 16,042 traffic accidents during the same month.

The accidents were mostly a result of excessive speed, especially prior to breaking of fast.

“Drivers did not leave sufficient distance between vehicles, suffered from lack of focus, neglected to pay attention,” thee police said.

It appealed to all drivers and road users to eschew wrong practices and be cautious when approaching intersections and ensuring that the street is free of pedestrians, especially at crossing areas and in residential neighborhoods.
