New club for cyclists to start in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: Cycling as a sports has already goot a huge fillip in the United Arab Emirates with the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Dubai Tour.

Now, a new club will be set up in Abu Dhabi to regulate and promote cycling, and develop the skills of young cyclists to enable them to participate in competitive events.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi will establish the bicycle club, according to a resolution issued by Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

In another resolution, Sheikh Nahyan named Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili as chairman of the eight-member board of the club. Members of the board will serve a three-year term, subject to renewal.
