ABU DHABI 23 October 2018: An agreement to construct Bazar Al Mafraq at Al Mafraq Industrial Area was signed yesterdau by Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, General Manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM), and Ali Mohammed Sadiq Al Baluchi, Chairman of Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting.

The prime objective of constructing the Bazar at Al Mafraq, following the success of Musaffah Bazar, is to curb street hawkers and protect the community from the adverse health impact of eating unhygienic food from unlicensed vendors. Traders, vocational workers and vendors can benefit from the services on offer in the market.

The market will have a rainwater drainage system, telecommunication network, water network, environment-friendly street lights, and car park for visitors, parking bay for offloading goods, and lanes for pedestrians and vehicles, said Wam.

Bazar Al Mafraq is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It will cost some AED8 million and can accommodate 480 traders. It will also include truck restaurants, refrigerators for selling meat and frozen fish, and an area for tailors, painters and sculptors to practice their trade. Shops will be given free to sellers who wish to trade in a legitimate and authorised way.

“The signing of the agreement is an integral part of a series of agreements signed with the private sector. It echoes the direction of our government calling to boost the role of the private sector to support sustainable development while contributing to a happy life for all community members. Such objectives are met by building modern service and entertainment amenities reflecting the image of Abu Dhabi and its advanced global ranking as the best place for living, happiness and practising business,” Al Qubaisi said.

“Ghantoot Company is privileged and proud to foster partnerships with renowned institutions such as the Abu Dhabi City Municipality and considers this project an opportunity to enhance the company’s role in supporting the values of social responsibility and contributing to the overall development of Abu Dhabi. The project reflects our values, ethos, and loyalty to the UAE. It also reflects the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in supporting the sustainable development and contributing to a happy life for all residents of Abu Dhabi,” Al Baluchi said.

“Through this initiative, we can strengthen the partnership and work side by side to serve the local community. We can cooperate in developing communal facilities and highlighting the role of the Company in providing various services to the community,” he added.
