The 48-year-old suspect on death row for kidnapping, raping and killing 8-year-old Obaida will be examined by psychiatrists to analysis his mental health.
Dubai Court of Appeal has agreed to refer Nidal Isa to Rashid Hospital.
The court took this decision based on a request made by the newly appointed defence lawyer Ali Al Musabbeh.
“After reading his file, I found out that the convict’s previous laywer had asked the court for mental medical check. The convict had also mentioned during lower court hearings that he suffered from mental problems and had received treatment in his home country. Therefore, I request your honour to refer him to a medical committee to examine his mental health,” Al Musabbeh told the court.
