Old UAQ district tenancy contracts will not be renewed

Old Umm Al Qaiwain district to be redeveloped

UMM AL QAIWAIN 12 May 2017: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has issued a resolution pertaining to the development of the Old Umm Al Qaiwain district.

The resolution No. 3 for 2017 mandates that the Umm Al Qaiwain Department of Planning and Survey (DPS), draws up a comprehensive plan for developing and upgrading the Old Umm Al Qaiwain, as well as demolishing derelict buildings there, said Wam.

According to Article 2 of the resolution, tenancy contracts for residential and commercial properties in the Old Umm Al Qaiwain district will not be renewed after their expiry. It also stipulates halting the issuance of licences for new and existing facilities there, unless approved by the DPS.

Article 3 states that the DPS will estimate the total cost for the development and upgrading of the district and propose the appropriate mechanism for collecting demolition fees.

The resolution will be effective from the date of its signature and will be published in the official gazette.

New Chairman of UAQ Municipality

Sheikh Saud  has also issued an Emiri Decree appointing the Chairman of the Municipality Department in Umm Al Qaiwain.

Decree No. 04 of 2017 stipulated the appointment of Sheikh Ali bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla as the Chairman of UAQ Municipality Department.

The Decree annuls any other legislation that contradicts or challenges its articles. The Decree is valid from the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
