AJMAN 5 June 2018: A rare surgery was performed on the child, Heba Ezat Al Salkhadi, who is a refugee residing in the UAE-Jordanian camp for Syrian refugees in Mrajeeb Al Fhood.

The surgery was performed as part of a grant from H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. The camp is managed by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), said Wam.

Nine-year-old Heba suffers from congenital deformities, an incomplete growth of her ear and dystrophy of her lower jaw. She underwent surgery to reconstruct her ears.

The surgery, which was performed in a hospital in Amman, is the first of its kind in Jordan in terms of reconstructing both ears during one surgery.

Heba’s family thanked Sheikh Humaid for his generous donation and humanitarian gesture, which returned their happiness and hope.

They also stressed that the UAE’s leadership and people are recognised globally for supporting humanitarian causes, including the plight of Syrian refugees, through the many services offered by the UAE.

Dr. Belstrod, who came from the United Kingdom, UK, to perform the surgery, thanked the ERC and the camp for supporting Syrian refugees while affirming that such humanitarian acts are not unique for the UAE and its people, and expressing his happiness for helping to return Heba’s smile and the hope of her family.

The camp’s management promised to monitor Heba’s condition and provide for her needs.
