DUBAI 10 OCTOBER 2018: The ‘Desert Run at Al Marmoom’ is back for a second year. Supported by the Dubai Sports Council, the first in a three-part series is taking place on 12th October and open to runners of all levels with a 5km or 10km run offer. Registration for the first event in the series is closing this Wednesday [tonight].

Spanning more than 40 hectares of shrub land, the unfenced Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve is home to hundreds of species of animals and birds, both native and migratory, including 500 large flamingos, and this event gives runners and fitness enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy the views as the sun rises across the desert

For Dh105, runners can take part in the competitive and family-friendly event and all runners will receive participation medals – the top three finishers in each group will be awarded at the awards ceremony.

Perfect for those who like to spend the weekend outdoors, the Al Marmoom Reserve is set to become a hub for all sorts of adventurous activities, from wildlife viewing and stargazing to yoga and cycling, and by 2030, the Dubai Sports Council aims to host more than 20 annual sporting events there.

The second event in the series is on Friday 7th December and the third event is on Friday 8th March 2019. The Desert Night Run is also launching on Wednesday 14th November.
