DUBAI 27 April 2018: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rubbished suggestions of a planned Hyperloop TT link between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

“RTA has denied the validity of the announcement of the Hyperloop Transport Technology (Hyperloop TT) company regarding the first Hyperloop line connecting Abu Dhabi Airport and Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai,” said RTA.

RTA said there is no specific route for operating the Hyperloop system in Dubai or between Dubai and other emirates.

“The system is still under the process of research and development, and RTA is closely following the developments in this technology, and will study several options for determining the route which will be announced in the future,” it said.

RTA stressed that projects of this magnitude and complexity, must be preceded by careful planning and engineering studies as well as feasibility studies to determine the feasibility of implementation and reduce the potential risks, and maximize the benefit of the project.

On April 18, Hyperloop TT announced the signing of an agreement with Aldar Properties for the world’s first commercial Hyperloop system of 10km in critical development area between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The agreement with Aldar Properties  will allow Hyperloop TT to start construction of a Hyperloop system as well as Hyperloop TT’s XO Square Innovation Center, and a Hyperloop Visitor Center.

The construction site is located in Aldar’s Seih Al Sdeirah landbank in Abu Dhabi and in close proximity to the residential development Alghadeer. It is conveniently located on the border of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, close to the Expo 2020 site and Al Maktoum International Airport.

HyperloopTT plans construction of the line in several phases starting within the ten kilometer allocation, with further development aimed at creating a commercial Hyperloop network across the Emirates and beyond.
