Sandstorm hits UAE… but mercury still at high of 37°C

This is no time to be outdoors

DUBAI: Sandstorm conditions – The skies have darkened and there is a howling wind that is sweeping in between the skyscrapers and picking up sand as it howls across the open expanses of the desert.

To put it mildly – this is no time to be outdoors – for there is a sandstorm blowing.

Our own weather agency, NCMS, forecast for today says: Partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with a chance of light rain especially over coast, islands and some northern and eastern areas.

Moderate winds in general freshening at times in case of any clouds activity, causing blowing sand/ dust over exposed areas.

Sea will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and rough in Oman Sea.

Skies may be dark and winds may be blowing, but its not going to be cool with mercury touch 37°C.

TUESDAY: Partly cloudy to cloudy weather, cloud amount will increase gradually, with a chance of different intensity rainfall at scattered areas.

Moderate to fresh winds in general becoming strong at times especially over the sea, causing blowing sand/dust and poor visibility over the exposed areas. Sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy in general with moderate winds in general fresh at times. May be causing blowing sand/dust and poor visibility over the exposed areas.

Sea will be moderate and rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in Oman Sea.
